|
IMDB rating: 7.40 Plot: Germany in the 1970s: Murderous bomb attacks, the threat of terrorism and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the yet fragile German democracy. The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. And while he succeeds in his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, he knows he’s only dealing with the tip of the iceberg. |

Lookout, The
|
IMDB rating: 7.40 Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash. |

Public Skyscraper Viewing areas in London?
Calling all Londoners. I’m on the lookout for a great place to take in the London skyline from high above. I’ve been on the Eye and plan to visit Primrose hill, but are there any more public viewing areas like these about?
go to the top of St Pauls Cathedral … if you have the energy to climb right up to the very top you get a fantastic view (on a clear day)
if you want a more panoramic view go to the north side of Hampstead Heath, there’s a pagoda near to Kenwood which has the skyline etched on a brass plate with labels so you know what you’re seeing http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/44883 … take the 210 bus from Archway tube station … and maybe you’ll want to visit the grave of Karl Marx in Highgate Cemetery on the way

Hampstead Heath has good views over London. It’s difficult because there arent that many tall buildings to begin with. My Uni had a good view on the top floors.

A question about marijuana?
Okay, I have a question about a high that I experienced over Winter Break. First off, I am not a lightweight, so don’t just say that was it. My friend comes over to my house and he brings weed, he packs a bowl and we start to smoke it, we were chatting away because I hadn’t seen him in like 6 months, because I moved. He said that the weed he got was really expensive "good stuff." But I didn’t really pay any attention, I was just excited to see him. Well, all of a sudden, after smoking only like 1 and a half bowls the high hit me like a brick. I tried to text my friend and my phone was like… in a different plane of existence. Like my hand and my arm and my eyes were all separate and I couldn’t get them to all get together so that I could type the text. Then I stood up and I could like feel everything more… I had kandy bracelets all up one of my arms and I was very aware of how each bead felt against me. Then all of a sudden I started pacing in circles really fast and talking extremely fast, but I didn’t notice, my friend pointed out that I should sit down, then I realized that I was pacing and I started running around in circles and yelling. I was yelling at him, and I kept asking if I was dead or passed out. I was really worried that I had died and that everything was a dream. I kept telling him to call 911 if I passed out, then he made us go back inside (we had been on the balcony) and we sat down on the couch but I still kept getting up and running around. I was running so fast and talking so fast, my heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest. Then, things started to get really weird, I had absolutely no notion of time and I kept asking him how long its been, and sometimes he would reply back "2 mins" and other times it was like "45 mins" Well anyways, everything was moving and twisting more than ever, so I sat down and I kept screaming at my friend that I was "in another land" and I remember that I was like… in Rome and I was in a ring with gladiators and everyone was watching me and I was running around and I was afraid that the lions were going to come get me. Then, all of a sudden, there were cats and they kept like getting in my face and I was scared and wanted them to leave. Then I was in this land where spiders were butterflies and there were dandelions floating around me… it was creepy yet serene. During a time when I felt a tad more grounded to the point where I could think about reality, I got up and got paper and started drawing to try to take my mind off of the… high I guess. I mostly drew just what I saw in the "lands" then I started freaking out again and I was running around and my friend told me to eat bread to take the thc out of my bloodstream so I did and it didn’t help. Then he got bored because apparently he had been watching me for… I don’t even know how long, and he forced me to leave the house with him, even though I didn’t feel…sane enough to. Well, we started walking to his friend’s house and as we walked and I got more fresh air, I started to feel better… then we eventually got to his friend’s house and we got in his friend’s car, and we went to Berkeley to some telegraph street or something and I was starting to come down, and I could like distinguish reality from fantasy now. But it was so weird. My question is, why did my body react that way? Because it was like a serious body high and head high. Was the weed laced? (I know that’s a dumb question.) And if you guys are wondering why nothing happened to my friend, well, I smoked a lot more than him, and he is 6′4", 280 lbs, and I am 4′11", 110lbs. And I have been like permanently scarred from that experience, and now I can’t look at reality the same, and I feel like reality is a lie, and I keep getting freaked out about the experience at random times…
Yes, I am sure it was weed.
I don’t know exactly how long the "trip" lasted because I was with my weed smoking friends, and we kind of just go from place to place smoking more weed. I am guessing that it lasted maybe… 3 hours? I don’t know for sure though…
I don’t know if I was imagining stuff or hallucinating… I felt really lost. I couldn’t concentrate on anything, my thoughts kept jumping. I couldn’t tell if things were real or not.
And I don’t know what I smoked. I asked my friend and he was really high and didn’t remember what it was called, so we asked his friend, and his friend didn’t remember the name, but knew that what we had was crazy stuff because he had bought it before from the same person.
i always laughed when i first started
Old Man Withers | Feb 10, 2010
you mean u were imagining or hallucinating? because weed usually doesn’t cause hallucinations, really strong weed can. but only very mild hallucinations.
ya its laced if u were actually hallucinating.
sounds like pcp laced, but never used or seen anyone do pcp so…
Tyler | Feb 10, 2010
First of all – Are you sure it wasn’t Salvia ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvia_divi norum
Just remember that everything you were imagining was because of the weed you were smoking.
People usually loose track of time when they smoke too much weed. They also feel cold, jittery, shaky and generally freak out. Some think that they should drink milk, others drink water to stop the high. I think you should embrace it and realize it’ll pass in about an hour. Not a big deal.
You shouldn’t freak out anymore – just don’t smoke any more weed. You’re just not a weed type of guy – not a big deal.
How long did this whole "trip" last ? Was it an hour or was it 5-6 hours ?
Ask your friends what you smoked. Ask them if it was weed. If so, you should be fine. Just don;t think about it anymore.
Wake up early tomorrow morning, eat a nice breakfast and start off your fresh new day in Cali.
gummybear1234 | Feb 10, 2010
Too long. No one will want to touch it. Edit.
Steve | Feb 10, 2010
People like you, are the ones who give THEM the fuel they need to keep it illegal. If it wasn’t for lightweights and their idiotic experiences, nobody would be out there saying all these things like "marijuana should be illegal because people spaz out on it and hallucinate", "marijuana should be illegal because its often laced". Both of which are not true. You give marijuana a bad name.
People who have experiences like these should just keep it to themselves and stop making the rest of us look bad.
Just assume you had a panic attack due to anxiety triggered by a very potent strain of marijuana you couldn’t handle and move on, stop trying to give marijuana a bad name. Don’t touch it anymore, it’s not for you.
CJ | Feb 10, 2010
I have never heard of someone reacting like that to marijuana! am thinking it was salvia in it. I’ve had friends try it with similar experiences.
Miss D | Feb 10, 2010
Any idea what you smoked was called??? Certain marijuana kush strains have 30%+ thc, first time I smoked og kush I was straight fucked. Time was going by sooooo slowly. Then I tried to relax by smoking a cigarette and I passed out. Btw I blazed an entire eigth(3.5grams).

how do you enjoy the full moon?
I wrap my kids up in blankets outside and make up moon stories. hilarious when they go ..yeah right dad!
My dad would wake me up with come see the moon and tell me tales of sputnik and the man on the moon and how people used to think it was actually made out of cheese. Now i teach my kids those stories and thanks to nightskygirl’s telescope expertise i ordered a couple of 6 inch made for kids orion telescopes and teach them about the craters of the moon.
I told them Abbott & Costello are still on Mars and they believed me!
Full Moon is the night which i called "Lucky Night"
Cause it has enough light that can protect us from the dark, but they say that when it is full moon there are monsters, but i don’t believe it.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
|
IMDB rating: 7.10 Plot: In Italy, the American writer Sam Dalmas (Tony Musant) witnesses an attempt of murder of the owner of an art gallery, a couple of days before his foreseen return to the United States of America. He decides to stay with his girlfriend Julia (Suzy Kendall) and help the police in the investigation, while the serial killer stalks Julia and him. |

Where can I find DVD's or VHS's of quasi -classic French and Italian films of the 60's and 70's?
There were dozens of endeariing moves during the 60’s and 70’s such as "Dear Detective," "Come Have Some Coffee with Us" and "What Now My Love" that are nowhere to be found. There are also some strange works like "Investigation of a Citizien Above Suspicion" and "Bird with the Crystal Plumage" that have disappeared in the U.S. (as far as I can determine).
Many of the films in this category are from noted directors, feature top performers and extraordinary soundtracks. There are even several Academy Award contenders, yet they are unknown and unavailable here.
Can anyone suggest a source or vendor?
In the UK there is Moviemail, which stocks vast numbers of this type of film.
www.moviemail-online.co.uk
Be warned though, they are often region 2 (or sometimes region 0). NTSC region 1 are not available except in very rare cases. Why? Apparently because your tastes are so rare in the USA it isn’t worthwhile distributing them. So get a multi-region DVD player.
I also noted that you gave all the titles in English. Most of these will be French or Italian titled, with English sub-titles (only rarely an alternate English sound track). Why? See above.
But if like us you really do love these movies, then all this won’t matter.
Enjoy.

My 12 year old son got into a fight about his brother that passed away?
My 12 year old son came home today with a cut up face, bruises, and bloody. He had gotten into a fight after school was out about his 19 y/o brother that had gone to chile 3 years ago. His 19 y/o brother said to me, (I’m his mother), that if he wasn’t back in 6 months he is dead. He kept in contact for 5 months, and hasn’t said anything in 2 and a half years. He is in a better place now. I never told my 12 year old son that he died or said he might, so he thinks that his brother is still alive and coming back. One of the people at school told him that his brother wasn’t coming back and to give it up. Long story short, he got into a fight and they both got beaten up badly. I know there will be repercussions. Is it time to tell him his brother is passed, or should I have told him a long time ago? This is hard, so serious answers only, please.
i know it’s hard, but you should’ve told him awhile ago.
tell him now.

I wouldn’t count out my child until I saw his cold, lifeless body.

that is rough. you really should have been honest with your younger son from the get go, but as you weren’t, you need to tell him now, that you think his brother is not coming back (bizarre situation by the way). he needs to be able to grieve, and it is because he is so confused about things that he is getting into fights. shocking.

tell him the longer you wait the more he will be mad at you when you do tell him. good luck and God bless

it’s good that your son has hope. honestly how could you as a parent just write your son off like that. if god forbid one of my children went missing i would hold on to the hope that they were alive until proven otherwise. so no you shouldn’t tell your son he is dead because you have no proof he is.
EDIT: Just read your other question. in that one you are a 12 year old boy!

when my adoptive mom had her miscarrage in august of 09 our parents didnt tell me or my adopted sisters right away but he needs to know so he can cope properly etc.
tell him it will be hard but its the right thing to do
this is a quote my adoptive dad alwyas says:
"Doing whats right isn’t always easy, but its always right"

why would you think or tell your son hes dead, if you yourself dont know for a fact that he is dead.

How do you have a 12 year old son, when you claimed to be a 12 year old whose 7 year old sister caught you in the shower with your girlfriend?
Now, if you ARE the mother who happens to be using her 12 year old son’s account, you should know that last night when you and your husband went to the movies, your 7 year old saw your son in the shower with his girlfriend.

I bet it has been implied through the years. And anyway, he could be surfing in Brazil! You don’t know any more than he does about him. Don’t act as if he’s a 3 year old realizing death.

he should have been something earlier maybe you could say he is missing because you really dont know and explain that you did it to protect him he wont care now but he might understand later

Any Good Metaphors? plz help T_T?
Hi, so my mother’s birthday is in two days.
So I’m planning on making her a card.
But in the card, instead of writing something like "I wish you a happy birthday"
I want to be a little bit more creative and write a metaphor about her.
Can anyone help me think of one for my mother?
P.S. She is like most mothers.
Oh shining dawn, your beauty does not dimish but it grows, year by year, your worth does increase, although you have always been precious to me, you do not change, except in worth, ever lasting brilliance and shine, I will love you until the end of time, as will most who cross your path. The whole world sings your praise, you are no passing phase.
Never forgot that your the best, may the years just keeping getting better and better, love you always, my shining piece of Gold, -your name-
erm…? thats my idea….?
